The chorus is open to all interested singers Tuesday, September 9, and Tuesday, September 16. If you attend both rehearsals in September--you're in, should you decide that Soromundi is for you. There are no auditions and no skill or experience requirements . . . just a desire to sing!

Help us Celebrate Our 20th Season!

The planning has already begun! Soromundi members are working diligently behind the scenes to create a fantastic 20th Year Celebration events.

HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF SOROMUNDI AT ANY TIME IN THE LAST 19 YEARS? We are looking for you! We want to reach as many former members as we can in preparation for our 20th season, which begins in September. Our plans are to have a reunion choir (which would consist of former and current members) perform a few songs at our concert on May 16, 2009. We'd we'd love you to be part of it!

Even if you don't have any interest in being part of the reunion choir, we would still like to have your contact information so we can keep you apprised of our 20th Year Celebration events. Please email Linda at lcipriano@comcast.net, and give her the following information:
• your email address
• your snail-mail address
• your phone number.

Do you have a friend who's been a Soromundi member? Please pass along this information to her as well.

From the Eugene Weekly 05.15.08

soromundi"Somehow, this has become the calendar of a thousand gay events. And it's not even Pride Month! But the women of Soromundi: Lesbian Chorus of Eugene will make you proud simply to be a human being at How Can I Keep From Singing? If that's too Enya (or Jesus) for you, no worries; it's but one of the many songs that the 70-voice chorus plans to present at spring concert #19 (you know what that means for next year, people). There's a Sephardic lullaby and a Cajun farewell along with fave tunes of the regular Soromundi fans who crowd the Saturday Market and everywhere else the group sings. Why so many, and such avid, fans? The women of Soromundi vary in age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity and class background — not to mention singing ability — but they provide a united front and the sweet, sweet sound borne of encouragement, practice and community." Part of the Eugene Community
Soromundi is a vibrant part of the Eugene community, but the group's involvement and influence also reach far beyond Eugene. The 60+ members of Soromundi agree to a sometimes harrowing performance schedule because we are dedicated to the ideal that our visibility, our energy, and our harmonies can work against ignorance and fear and can help to support and sustain a strong and visible gay and lesbian community in Oregon.

Soromundi is open to any woman who wants to sing with us, regardless of sexual orientation. Dues are on a sliding scale and no one is turned away for lack of funds. To contact us about joining Soromundi, click here.
